Creative Supporter Wanted for Fun & Engaging 7-Year-Old with Autism & ADHD

Location: Silverdale
Hours: Weekdays, 2.45pm–5pm (flexible and may grow to include some weekends)

We’re looking for a kind, creative, and patient person to support a 7-year-old boy, who is autistic and has ADHD. This role involves picking him up from school (car and full license required), spending time with him at home, and sometimes heading out to the park or doing creative activities.

You need to be warm, firm but gentle, playful, and imaginative, with the patience to work with children who experience emotional ups and downs. Ideally, the person will have experience with or an understanding of autism and ADHD (or be open to learning), and be able to read a child’s energy, knowing when to engage or give space. The right candidate will be fully engaged, avoiding distractions like being on their phone, and capable of assisting with light housework when he is occupied. Comfort with supporting toileting and encouraging independence skills is essential. Flexibility for occasional weekend or school holiday support is also appreciated. This young boy is a playful child who loves to draw, play with plushies, and enjoy screen time. He has a vivid imagination and enjoys when others join in his world. While he can be selective with food and requires support with routines like toileting, he is usually tired after school and needs time to relax. He responds best to kindness and clear boundaries and is gradually learning to manage his emotions with the right support.

We are usually home, especially at first, to help everyone ease into things comfortably. This is a great opportunity for someone who truly loves working with neurodivergent children and wants to build a meaningful connection over time.
